KL Cobras Ice Hockey Club
The KL Cobras Ice Hockey Club, based at Sunway Lagoon Mall, has over 50 players. The upcoming ice hockey league starts again in February for those who are interested in specating. Or if you’d like to have a go yourself, the Cobras help to run the Sunway ice-hockey school, which is open to males and females of all ages and abilities. The KL Cobras also play in tournaments around the Asia Pacific region, and have regular social and charity events. To find out more about watching and/or getting involved, contact info@klcobras.com or visit www.klcobras.com.
Social Clubs
Expats can also join exclusive social clubs. Facilties generally include basic amenities like swimming pools, tennis / squash / badminton courts, pool tables, and some have their own golf courses or are affiliated to one near by.
There are typically two one-off payments you would need to make – a registration fee (RM3,000 or more) and a refundable deposit (RM1,000 or more). The amount depends on the club’s exclusivity and location.
Thereafter, you maintain your membership by paying a minimal monthly fee from RM70 per month. Most clubs do require two recommendations from existing member, but this is open to negotiation.
Some of these types of clubs include Kelab Darul Ehsan (www.berjayaclubs.com), the Royal Lake Club (www.royallakeclub.org.my, Tel: 03-2698 7878), Kelab Golf Negara Subang (www.subanggolf.com, Tel: 03-7876 0381/0388), Royal Selangor Club (www.rscweb.org.my).
